• Most of the skills taught at degrees are revolving around technical grounds; the most neglected ones are the soft skills that are classified as the most critical for the success of many
  • Many students are entering higher education (HE) with an academic skills level (low) that is creating a barrier to them fully participating in the learning process.
  • Regular subject units are designed around subject specific contents and there is a need to offer generic skills that are transferable to help bridge the deficiencies of business students during their stay within Business Degrees

  • The reluctance of many students to engage actively in generic skills units is a serious problem and, we would suggest, reflects the over-optimistic belief of many students that they have the necessary skills at the required level or that they cannot acquire them if they do not already possess them
